My name is Chantal Reardon, also known on social media as @missrdaily. I'm not Miss Daily, as lots of people think. It's Miss R, daily - I have had the handle for years and thought it was really clever when I began. I have since learnt that people think I'm called Chantal Daily, (I don't know why I haven't changed it now haha).
Anyway, I have been a primary school teacher since qualifying with a PGCE in 2015. I have taught in EYFS and KS1 and absolutely love it (minus all of the extra pressure and stress). Being around children is my happy place. Their imaginations, independence, problem solving skills and creativity always inspires me and blows me away. I love seeing the world through childrens' eyes - the magic that they see everywhere, the spontaneity and silliness they have, and the ability to live in the moment; it makes me feel like I have the best job in the world. I believe that education should enable and support all of these attributes, rather than pushing children to conform, listen and be quiet.
I use continuous provision in my teaching practices to enable this to happen. Continuous provision is a play-based approach to learning that supports children to identify and develop their own personalities, interests and styles of learning. Alongside this, I use restorative approaches to behaviour and strongly believe in protecting the wellbeing and mental health of children (and adults!).
I have taught in England and, most recently, in The Netherlands. Having returned to England and leaving such an incredible international school earlier this year (2022), I have decided to take some time out of the classroom. I am using this time to support teachers in implementing continuous provision in their classrooms, specifically in KS1, via
online training sessions
and
webinars. I am also working with The Teachers' Health Coach, supporting the health and wellbeing of educators, as well as beginning the
#GalPalPowWow
movement to empower women! In September 2022, I will be starting a Masters in Early Childhood Education, which I am really looking forward to!
